Howard Shakespeare began collecting bonds and shares in 1983, and soon became Membership Secretary of the Bond & Share Society, and later its chairman. He served as editor (and writer) of International Bond & Share Society's Journal (now Scripophily) and wrote the Society's first Guide for Collectors in 1990.
