Henry Dearborn (1751-1829), physician, soldier. Served with distinction in the Revolution, eventually joining Washington’s staff. Represented the District of Maine in Congress, 1793-97, and served as Secretary of War 1801-09. His performance in the war of 1812 was disappointing and he was removed from duty in July 1813.
In 1822 Monroe sent him as minister to Portugal, a post which he held two years. He later served as president of this company, “The Republican Institution of the Town of Boston.”
Henry Dearborn autographs this impressive 1821 stock at front as President. It bears an applied paper seal with neatly attached blue ribbon. Quite Rare and Most Important! Excellent Condition!
